Oct 31st from 4:30pm-9pm Candy Cruise Prince George is going to be the biggest, best, and most over-the-top Halloween Prince George has ever seen! This is not a ‘second best’ option due to a pandemic. We are putting on the best option period to give back to the families of our community who have been through so much during this pandemic.
A Drive-Thru experience that is non weather dependant, physically distant, warm and wildly fun. Families can get dressed up, get into their vehicles, and drive thru each of the 10 hub locations spread out around Prince George. Each hub location will feature 4-6 Partner Organizations, each Organization will have their own drive-thru ‘booth’ and will be handing out treats directly to your vehicle windows in a safe and Health Authority approved manner. Each Hub Location will be its own unique experience with candy handouts, displays, light shows, costumers (Storm Troopers, Mandalorians, Fionna from Shrek, Jurassic Park, Deadpool etc), machinery and attractions. These volunteers can't wait to compliment and be "wowed" by your costumes.
Instead of purchasing Candy to hand out at your household, we are asking you to make a monetary donation towards this event. Your donation will go towards helping provide our Partner Organizations with the treats and tools needed to hand out on Halloween Night (OVER $50,000 OF CANDY AND COUNTING!), as well as our other limited operating costs to run Candy Cruise Prince George. Any donations remaining after the event expenses are covered will be evenly distributed among our three partner charities – Big Brothers, Big Sisters Northern British Columbia, Ness Lake Bible Camp, and the Prince George Child Development Centre.
We would encourage you to print your own copy of our poster to display on your door to let your neighbours, family, and friends that on Halloween you and your family will be participating in Candy Cruise and will not be handing out candy this year.
If anyone in your group/vehicle is sick or experiencing symptoms of Covid 19 please stay home and do not participate in Candy Cruise Prince George.
Why does there need to be an alternative to regular trick-or-treating, and why should the alternative be as a drive-thru?
There are a series of Health Orders currently in place that restrict things such as large social gatherings, and health officials are strongly discouraging against traditional methods of trick-or-treating to avoid the spread of Covid-19. Our event team has worked with government and health officials to come up with a ‘Made-For-Prince George’ model that allows for families to get out of the house and have some Halloween fun, but by doing so in a safe and low-risk manner. Our team chose the Drive-Thru model as it is both efficient and manageable for processing large numbers of vehicles in a relatively short amount of time, but also drastically reduces the amount of contact between our Partners and your family. The Drive-Thru model also is permitted under current health restrictions, where gatherings of 50 or more people are still banned, and gatherings of less still require physical distancing.
As a family you will not only be getting treats as you drive thru Hub Locations but also taking in decorations, costumes and other attractions. Organizations are working hard to entertain and engage families from a safe distance.
Start at the hub location closest to your home and then cruise to the others in any order you like. Each hub will be a very different expereince with locations outside the city core having more candy vendors while locations in the core will have easier access and quicker service
